FRANCE
- Cidre de vergers de Kermao
Wilf - Just outside Quimper (South Brittany) - The best by miles out of the dozen or so producers but volume isn't great so getting it is a special trip to the farm. A wonderful dry cider with the richness of high tannin fruit. One of the best I've tasted.
- Phillippe Daufresne
RayBlockley - For French Cidre, it would have to be those produced by Philippe Daufresne at Ouilly-le-Vicomte in Normandy. His poire is not half bad either!
- Les Vergers de Kerbuel
Wilf - Just outside Morlaix (North Brittany)- lovely rich cider at 6%
SPAIN
- Saizar Sidra
MarkShirley - I've found Saizar Sidra to be very good wherever I've tried it, and it's one of the more widely available ciders in Spain. Barcelona is a good place to track down a Saizar, but the cider house at Artxanda, overlooking Bilbao is a particularly nice spot to enjoy this cider.
Tania -
- Zapiain Sidra
Tania - Sidra-wise I've enjoyed some very good Zapaian (excuse spelling) - I've found it can vary quite a bit though so I'm guessing again that may be down to variations in particular years
